Show your support for African Refugees
African refugees are a valuable part of Australia’s multicultural society. Many are already making an outstanding contribution to our community.
On Monday, October 15th, 68 organisations signed an open letter in The Australian showing our support for African refugees and the integrity of a humanitarian program based on need, not false perceptions abouts integration capacity.
Now that the election has been called it is important that our leaders know the broader public supports African refugee communities in Australia and a just humanitarian program.

Make a complaint about media coverage of Sudanese refugees
This month Channel 7, 9 and 10 all ganged up on Sudanese Refugees in their news coverage and each ran stories claiming there were Sudanese Gangs rampaging through Melbourne causing terror. Each station clearly ran this story as part of helping justify and support Kevin Andrews decision to cut places for African refugees intake from 70% to 30% of our humanitarian program. A huge problem with each of these stories apart from them being racist and sensationalist in their nature, was they were also each dishonest and actually provided no evidence of Sudanese people being involved in the criminal activity being shown on each of these stories.
Then make a complaint to Channel 7, 9 and 10 and let them know that running dishonest, racist new stories that seek only to racially vilify Sudanese Refugees is unacceptable and that we won't put up with it.
