DAN in Sydney

Darfur Australia Network opened a Sydney chapter in early 2007. Over the past year, the group has established itself as the primary representative body for the Darfur refugee community in Sydney. We have been involved in several events to raise awareness about the Darfur crisis, provided support and assistance to the Sydney Darfuri community and worked alongside Melbourne DAN to advocate on a national level.

Sydney DAN will continue to develop in these key areas in 2008, as we become further established and our membership expands. If you are interested in the issue of Darfur, refugees and/or advocacy then volunteering with DAN Sydney might be the opportunity you have been waiting for.

Volunteers Needed

We are currently looking for volunteers or interns to assist our work. While we welcome volunteers with any skills and abilities, we are specifically looking for the following;

- Fundraising

- Grant Researcher / Writer

- Graphic Designer

- Community Liason and Support

 Darfur Festival in Sydney! - Friday 20th June, 11am-3pm

Oxford St Mall, Bondi Junction.

Come celebrate World Refugee Day with us and enjoy Darfuri culture while learning more about the crisis in Darfur. There will be singing, dancing, cooking demonstrations, hair braiding, body art and more. Members of the Darfuri refugee community will be available to answer your questions or just to have a chat. It should be a great day - hope to see you there.
